Senior Salute: Alexis Ochoa

Alexis Ochoa

“Value the present moment. Hold on to every moment of your life and taste it.” - Wayne Dyer

Throughout his past three years, Alexis has contributed greatly to Juan Diego Academy’s athletics program. As a soccer player, he was awarded for athletic achievement and was able to experience the team’s first advancement to quarter finals. Although his track season got cut short, Alexis is still extremely grateful for the second family he gained along the way. As a founding member and elected secretary of JDA’s HOSA chapter (Future Health Professionals), Alexis made sure that everyone’s opinions were heard; he says “It was a good year of pure achievement.”

As a part of a Catholic youth group in Reynosa, Alexis helped collect food donations for people living on the streets. This experience inspired him to take charge of his own service project across multiple hospitals, supporting patients, families, and employees.

His advice to the students of Juan Diego Academy is to “live every moment you have with your friends, with your families and with the people you love the most because you never know when it will be the last time you see them .”

AIexis would like to thank Mr. Gregory and Mr. Delgado who were the ones who gave us days of laughter and moments of teaching. To Mrs. Garza and Coach Soliz for supporting me at all times when I most needed help.”

Alexis will be attending the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley as a biomedical sciences and health major.
